Room for rent in Watertown

The owner of the unit above me is looking for a renter. The room itself I guess is average size but there is a ton of space in the apartment (2nd and 3rd floor of a multifamily.) $650/mo includes utilities. It's tenant at will. If you're interested I'll pass on the info.

Oh yeah, its probably short term, he's going to try to sell it next spring.

http://5759lexingtonstreet2.epropertysites.com/

Rhode Island passes medical marijuana law

I know its a small state, but this seems like major news that is basically unknown outside of its borders.

http://www.mpp.org/states/rhode-island/

"Rhode Island has now officially modified its original medical marijuana law to include the creation of state-licensed compassion centers, which will provide safe and consistent access for seriously ill patients to the medicine they need. Rhode Island is the first state in the nation to make such a modification."

Trying to make the torture go away

Few people would admit to making the conscious choice to view images of rape and degradation, yet this is exactly what would happen. In fact, it is happening regardless of Obama's intent, as the "banned" images are obtained by journalists around the world. This is the downside of transparency, and democracy, and human nature and unfortunately it cannot be stopped... regardless of my assertions of my sense of decency and respect for others.

How do we deal with the aftermath? Can we follow our social mores to their logical conclusion? I don't mean the social mores that say we are unquestionably better than those who we call out as depraved. We've already tried to follow those to their logical conclusion, and the logical conclusion is that when it comes to erring on the side of caution, we would rather pre-empt the debate on our own depravity in favor of a debate on whether decisions made for the common good could have possibly been better executed. So far, we are willing to overlook the debate on whether or not it is possible for a politician, or a country, to be motivated by self interest, and not the common good. The cognitive dissonance of knowing that the images exist, and knowing we get rough with enemies and that's always the way it has been is not compelling because we have no reason to reconcile it with our Higher Calling.

Keeping slaves might be helpful in the current economic climate. The movers and shakers of this world could maximize their capital, and the unemployed would get guaranteed sustenance and shelter. Isn't that ridiculous? But how would you feel if you heard this argument made on TV? Or, it were already decided? Take some time and think about what you would do. Agree to disagree?

I am reduced to reposting myspace rants

Here is an angry man pondering the fact that is breakthrough record is all over the internet, days after being mastered and months ahead of the release:

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=62653487&blogId=485944356

It's difficult to express exactly what I felt when I found out, last
wednesday, that the album had made it's way onto the internet. 22nd
april - approximately eight and a half weeks before release and only
three since the fucking thing was mastered and whilst members of the
band don't have shiny little embossed copies there is a promotional cd
of the record on sale at ebay for twenty five quid.

I drank a bottle of Jamesons and began to lecture the cat on copyright
control. To her credit, she simply fell asleep as Law and Order went
about its business in the background.

Myself, Kelson and a couple of the guys at Beggars spent 72 hours or
so pissing around, sending angry emails to proud bloggers (and oh, the
fucking pride of the feckless thief) and, amongst others, a Russian
website that was already charging people for the songs. Motherfuckers.
I guess that since the bottom has fallen out of the arms trade, any
collection of notes, however obscure, is a legitimate income source.

So, anyway, the fucking thing has leaked despite our desperate
delaying tactics and you may have listened to it / be dowloading it
this second / have taken the position that you'd rather wait for the
actual release - regardless, it feels that getting annoyed about
downloading in this valueless modern age is like taking issue with
water for being wet or night for gradually turning into day because
ultimately the entitlement that most people feel for free music
completely overshadows any moral or legal issues and conflicts that
may arise in the hearts and minds of better people, people who
understand that actions, on both an individual and group level, have
consequences far beyond that moment of instant gratification.

There's so much to say with so little effect on this issue, so many
well-intentioned but wasted words devoted to it ... but anyway,
thankyou for downloading in barely a minute something that we poured a
year of our lives into, attempting (successfully, I believe) with a
great and furious pride to better our previous low-selling (and leaked
three months early) album, a record which flew under the radar for
many reasons but mostly because most of the goodwill poured on it
happened and had dwindled several months before it was available to
buy.

Yes, buy. Such a dirty fucking word. Currency exchanged for goods and
services. Food, Clothing, Butt-plugs and fucking H2O. How far, I
wonder does this entitlement for free music go? My guitars, should
they be free? Petrol to get us to shows? Perhaps I should come to an
arrangement with my landlord, through the musician-rent-waiver
programme.

Perhaps he should pay me, for his ninth-division indie-cred through association.

You will have to excuse me, people of the internet. It turns out that
I just wanted a big party with balloons and streamers to celebrate
everything we put into this thing, released into the physical world
with a fanfare and fuss befitting its status. I'm not angry (in fact I
don't blame you, unless you leaked it, in which case I WILL KILL YOU),
just a little worried that the record we made will get lost amongst
the debris and leave us playing shows like we just weathered at the
laughably bad Camden Crawl this last weekend - fifteen people and a
world of disillusion.*

Anyway - please be careful, or we'll get the world we all deserve.
Hobby bands who can tour once every few years if they're lucky, and
the superstars, freed from such inconvenient baggage as integrity and
conscience, running the corporate sponsored marathon of £80-a-ticket
arena tours and television adverts til their loveless hearts explode
in an orgy of oppressive branding and self-regard. Some of us, in all
honestly, just want to make the music we love and play it around the
world without living in poverty.

We'll be announcing some deal involving pre-orders of the cd/lp with
an immediate download in the next few days.

Do consult your surroundings before proceeding.

falco

*Next time somebody tells me that i can't drink my rider in the
building I'm playing in I'm going to fuck them with their own shoes.

Desperate times

I was listening to a group called Fight Bite (good) on myspace, and saw this post on their bb. I'd definitely hire this person... WITH MY MIND.

What the fuck people! I need a motherfuckin job, and I have a resume that says I am fucking fit to be your goddamn front desk/administrative assistant. I have applied to a ton of jobs on here, and not one of them responded, WHAT THE FUCK?!

Cover Letter? Here's my fucking cover letter!
Now, I'm really low on money, and I'll suck a dick if I have to...that's right!
Got a bear in your backyard that keeps eating your garbage? I'll fight that motherfucker and I'll win! Can any other prospective employee say that?! FUCK NO! What'd you say? You lost your keys? FUCK IT! I'll shoot the goddamn lock off your door with my laser eyes! That's how bad I need a motherfuckin job! Your brother is gay and you're not cool with that? I'll de-gay him with reverse buttsex. Don't believe me?! Then hire me and I'll fucking show you!

OBJECTIVE
I need a motherfuckin job.

SHIT I HAVE DONE
-I invented the moon.
-Atlantis was around til 1988, but sunk when I shot out of my mom's vagina like a silver bullet into a wolverine.
-I am also a wolverine.
-Had sex with the Spice Girls.
-The blowjob machine was originally my idea until that bastard Clint Eastwood stole it.
-I have prophetic visions of the apocolypse.
-Watched the movie "Juwanna Mann" at least 18 times. http://www. imdb. com/title/tt0247444/
-Created a new genre of dance in which people get so into it that radiation waves pulsate off of them, I like to call this the microrave.
-I reverse engineered a door, I now know how it works.
-When I was 8, a frisbee flew into my backyard and I blew it up with my mind.
-My brother is the Eiffel Tower
-Direct descendant of Beowulf
-Can make weapons out of anything, very useful in a hostile work environment
-Beat my pornography addiction when I was 19
-Proficient in Microsoft Office and Photoshop

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
Glom

I am looking for an iso image of Windows XP Pro SP2*C* (OEM.) No piracy; I have a product key but the CD is bad. Unfortunately this is not a vanilla XP retail CD, but a recent release that uses a new run of product keys that only work with SP2C, and these are apparently hard to come by unless you are a system builder.

I bought mine at Newegg in June but didn't use it immediately so they won't give me an RMA. I ordered a replacement CD from Microsoft but that order is just stalled, and I don't want to have to wait 'til next year or whatever for them to send it, if they ever get to it since I think it is discontinued now. I also somehow misplaced the CD, fuck (not that it helps me.)

sucks to not be you Alan Greenspan

Turns out he was wrong when he assumed the free market was run by intelligent people who actually gave a shit about something besides themselves (e.g. the market.)

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/business/economy/24panel.htm

Mr. Greenspan told the House Oversight Committee on Thursday that his belief that banks would be more prudent in their lending practices because of the need to protect their stockholders had proved to be wrong.

Mr. Greenspan said he had made a “mistake” in believing that banks operating in their self-interest would be enough to protect their shareholders and the equity in their institutions.

Mr. Greenspan said that he had found “a flaw in the model that I perceived is the critical functioning structure that defines how the world works.”
